Creative Landscape Photography Workshops.
Bruce Mortimer offers three different ways of improving your photography.
Online critiques of your photographs,

Private one-on-one tuition,
(ideal for individuals and small groups wanting very specific coaching) and
Landscape Photography Workshops:
"I always intended my New Zealand workshops to make the most of our environment, provide solid photographic guidance, but most of all they had to be
different.
That meant designing a workshop that has a genuine creative impact on every participant, irrespective of
their own level of photography. Since there are plenty of photography courses available, that posed a real challenge.
I am aware that it is largely my unique positive way in which I view the world that has given my photography value, and I always felt that sharing that positive passion would
be the key to creating a workshop of real benefit. I love photography, I have since I was 12, and it has shaped me far beyond where I would have been without it.
My creative workshops are based around landscape photography, because that is my own passion,
but the information I provide transfers to all genres of photography."

(limited places available on each landscape photography course)
Some of the interesting and unusual topics covered on the photography workshops are:
* why your camera equipment is not as important as you thought
* how to recognise outstanding photographic opportunities
* being in the right place at the right time; planning ahead
* making the most of conditions, your photographic equipment, and your photography skill level
* communicating using your photography
* having a practical, achievable goal for your photography
* finding and developing your creative photography niche
* how to create an effective portfolio of images
* finding motivation, challenging yourself, self-feedback, and growing as a photographer.
Within this course structure we also teach the boring stuff like the fundamentals of depth of field, using shutter speed to your advantage, white balance, ISO and,
last but by no means least, composition.
Remember that although we refer to them as landscape workshops, we do cover other subjects too.
The courses are designed to be simple in concept but challenging, fresh and fun. But most of all we want you to leave with a good knowledge of where you can take
your photography,
and how it can work for
you. Our online tuition facility (submission of photographs for assessment) provides a way of maintaining the learning and growing process after the workshop course.
For the workshop course, we only recommend having your own digital SLR camera
(the camera megapixels don't matter and make sure your battery is charged) with a standard (kit) lens and a 2Gig card, and preferably your own tripod,
although we do have loan tripods and suitable cameras also. We will ask you to email a few of your better photographic images beforehand, so we can learn something about your style of photography
before you join us on the Creative Landscape Workshop.
Please contact us online for more information. We are finalising (as at October 2011) the details for each of the two landscape photography workshop venues, Kapiti Coast, New Zealand and Nelson, New Zealand, and we will upload that information
online as soon as it is available.
Bruce Mortimer has solid experience as a host of photographic workshops, having taught photography to over 250 participants from 2001 to 2003.
He is a landscape photographer with vast professional experience, having sold over 3000 photographic artworks since 1995, and having photographed in 20 countries,
with a wide variety of equipment, from hand-built panoramic cameras (built himself), digital SLR's, to pocket film cameras. He claims (although unsubstantiated) that he'll know
everything about any particular camera after playing with it for about 10 minutes (not that good photography necessarily results from having a good camera!). His original decision to host photography workshops built
on his adult teaching experience as a young University Lecturer
in Geology (1991-1993), a career path which he left to pursue his passion for photography. His passion extends to many diverse and creative pursuits beyond his art...writing, walking, trail running, playing and watching cricket,
philosophy, language, vehicle mechanics, property renovation, kayaking, surfing, travel, listening to music in general and playing the soprano saxophone, flute and piano.
*price guide - One day photography workshops NZ$480 per person
Two day photography workshops NZ$750 per person which includes one night comfortable accommodation,
