Landscape artist and photographer Bruce Mortimer has created fine art landscapes professionally since 1995, in the mediums of black and white photography, oil on canvas, pastel, acrylics and mixed media.
He has photographed landscapes in 20 countries on 5 continents, with his major portfolios covering Southern and Central Africa, and his adopted country of New Zealand.
His work is predominantly in the panoramic format, and is stylistically simple and powerful. His photography has found its way into calenders, magazines and in published books, as
well as hanging in private and corporate collections throughout the world. Some examples include artwork created on commission for the Oppenheimer family (Anglo American/De Beers), over 300 images for Vodacom (South Africa),
commissioned art for the marketing manager of the Rugby World Cup,
and an invitation to submit ideas for a commissioned piece for Government House in Wellington, New Zealand. His fairly recent 2007 book
"Africa by Inspiration" (Art Publishers) is a 180 page coffee table book featuring exclusively black and white images of
Southern Africa.
Originally trained in the science of Geology (BSc (Hons.) first class) , Bruce draws on his intimate knowledge of the landscape as inspiration for his art.
