is an abandoned town in the Namib Desert, Africa. During an exhibition I once met someone who had grown up there, and her memory was one of
another child losing a finger in a door blown closed by the wind. The same wind has now brought the desert inside and frozen the town in time, and yet it feels like it breaths and exists as it always had.
This artwork was created in March 2016 in my studio in Pukerua Bay, inspired by a photograph I took on one of ten trips to the region.
The medium is charcoal on a heavy Fabriano Artistico paper.
